Evening, sir. How're you doing? Both you and your wife're alright after that bollocks yesterday? I don't expect her to've mentioned it, but Padma and I stopped by to visit her before all hell broke loose. Feisty one you've there.
Anyroad, I know it's been a couple weeks since we've finished up with that project and I was wondering if you've anything else you might need or like my help with. I've a few other prospects in the wings, but I'd rather collaborate with you again, if it's all the same. If not, I'd like to at least buy you a pint sometime.

Date: 2006-09-12 05:23 am (UTC)She did mention that you'd stopped by, actually. In fact, she mentioned how dashingly handsome you were which I had no choice but to contest. She is undenyably feisty, much to my delight. A better woman, I've never known.
Did you catch the announcement yesterday that only Pureblood born children will be allowed admittance to Ministry run school? Minerva has invited myself and several others to teach at the Phoenix Academy, a school which will accept magical children of any birth. I would bet that your own young brother is to be invited?
If you're looking for a position teaching, I'm sure I could find one for you. If you're looking to continue working as an apprentice, I would be thrilled to hire you on. I would need to speak to Minerva of course, but I doubt she'd turn either of us down.

Date: 2006-09-12 06:07 am (UTC)She's fit herself for a woman in her years. Noticed there were more than a handful of younger blokes in line trying to press their luck with her. Should keep an eye on her and these other blokes, sir.
Did catch that and I think it's shite. I've not heard anything about the Phoenix Academy myself, but I've recently moved out into a flat with a mate, so I've not spoken with my mum about Alex's schooling since the start of summer and at that point, she was considering sending him to a Muggle secondary school.
A teaching position? You're joshing, yeah? You don't reckon someone like Professor McGonagall'd already have those positions filled? I was thinking on more like an apprentice, but I don't know what you'd be having me do if you're back to teaching again.

Date: 2006-09-12 03:13 pm (UTC)I won't tell her you gave her the condition of a "woman of her years," and I would say that she's fit for a woman of any number of years. Those younger blokes are welcome to look and flirt as long as she comes home to me at night. After many years in this position, I've gotten used to it.
What's that? Muggle secondary school? But he's a wizard! Untrained magic in that boy would be dangerous for us all.
There isn't an endless supply of professors, Mr Corner.
Why don't we hire you on as an apprentice and see what we come up with? Ah, the unknown! How refreshing!

Date: 2006-09-12 04:03 pm (UTC)It was 'in' her years, not 'of' her years. There's a difference there. Wouldn't dream of giving her any condition that was premature. How do you do that with the whole jealousy bit? Is it something that one day you wake up and suddenly you are? Because I reckon Tony could use some advice on that.
I reckon you meant to say anything less than Azkaban for him is dangerous for us all.
I know that. Thought she'd be wanting others with more qualifications, that's all.
The unknown? Now we're talking. I reckon I can handle that, sure. Where am I to report to?

Date: 2006-09-12 05:45 pm (UTC)Jealousy? I'm not jealous of them, Michael. They're jealous of me, and I know it. It's easier to deal with if you look at it like that. Remember that she comes home to me no matter how much they flirt and wink at her.
Is it Tony who needs this advice? Did I see that he's engaged?
Untrained, yes, Azkaban probably does loom in his future. Should I make an appointment to speak with your mother on the matter?
Now, I'm not quite sure. I'll find out and let you know, if you'd like. Where can I contact you at?

Date: 2006-09-12 07:42 pm (UTC)It's Tony that needs that advice, yeah. He's some lingering issues, I reckon.
He sure is. The sod found some nerve and asked his girlfriend to marry him, blowing bachelorhood all to hell. It's all good. If he's to win me my wager though, he needs to get off his finger and be done with it already.
If you think it'll do any good, by all means, entertain yourself. Have a go. She'd probably like to speak to you about me anyroad, make sure I'm behaving and the like because she's like that.
Might be nice to know if we're to be working together again, yeah. You can reach me at Knobbler's Knob on the Floo Network or Firelogs'll work as well. Or I can stop by your house in the middle of night sometime if you're keen.

Date: 2006-09-12 08:20 pm (UTC)Who are these lingering issues directed at?
Considering the last year I spent with Mr Goldstein in Ravenclaw, it's not surprising to me at all that he and Miss Parkinson have decided to be married. And in fact, a good marriage is a wonderful thing to have. You may not know that I spent quite some time as a bachelor, thinking it would be the best life to have until I was proven wrong by Serena. Quite amazing.
I'll be contacting your mother tonight then. It's always been a...pleasure discussing you with her over the years.
What an inspiring Floo address.
If you stop by at midnight, you'll have to deal with Serena and I wish you luck.

Date: 2006-09-12 08:59 pm (UTC)I'd wager a good deal of them are directed at her former writing professor.
It's not that they're getting married - I deal in odds most of the time and theirs is one I would've ridden all the way to Gringott's. S'pose it comes down to that he'd admitted they'd never discussed it before and in a week's time he's gone and popped the question.
I've a bloody good idea what the right woman'll do to you. When'd you meet Serena, sir?
Right. I'm cert she feels the same.
Brilliant, yeah? I'd like to think so.
Don't need luck when you've charm.

Date: 2006-09-13 02:17 am (UTC)Oh? The future Mrs Goldstein is taking a writing course, is she?
So you discussed it with him and then he asked her to marry him? Hm, so are you claiming to have given him the idea in the first place?
I met Serena when I had decided to be a bachelor at 40 and she changed my mind. A man of 40 found himself married six months later to a woman of 26. It was the best year of my life.
You have more charm in your big toe than most have over a lifetime.

Date: 2006-09-13 09:14 am (UTC)Was, but I don't know what she's doing now other than walking around the flat with some glazed look on her face.
Damn right I am but I wouldn't say it was discussed between us, no. Morelike was a quick exchange more than anything - me asking him if they'd talked about it, him saying no, then we carried on with our plans to head south to race horses bareback whilst starkers. Ever try that yourself?
That was the best year of your life? S'pose I shouldn't fill the Mrs in about the rest of your years together not exceeding expectation. Don't know what she'd do to you, after all.
Aw, Filly, you're making me blush.
